KATHMANDU, The Nepal Volleyball Association (NVA) has officially finalized the list of participating teams for the 9th NVA Men’s and Women’s National Volleyball Championship-2082. The tournament is scheduled to begin on Poush 11 (December 26) at the Dasharath Rangasala Covered Hall in Tripureshwor.
According to NVA General Secretary Roshan Shrestha, the championship will feature a total of 20 teams, with 12 competing in the men’s category and 8 in the women’s category.
Men’s Category: 12 Teams Confirmed
The men’s division features the powerful departmental sides alongside several prominent regional and training center clubs:
Departmental Giants: Tribhuvan Army Club, Nepal Police Club, and Armed Police Force (APF) Club.
Other Contenders: Rukum West Volleyball Training Center (Karnali), Jawalakhel Volleyball Training Center, Manimukunda Volleyball Club (Lumbini), Help Nepal Sports Club, Koshi Province Volleyball Association, Budhanilkantha Volleyball Club, Dhorpatan Club (Kathmandu), Khilji Youth Club (Lumbini), and Kirtipur Volleyball Training Center (Kathmandu).
Women’s Category: 8 Teams Confirmed
The women’s division will see a competitive field of eight teams, though notably, Gandaki Province will not be participating in this edition.
Departmental Giants: Nepal Police Club, APF Club, and Tribhuvan Army Club.
Other Contenders: New Diamond Youth Sports Club, Everest Volleyball Club, Chuli Youth Club (Karnali), Sudurpashchim Province Sports Council, and Madhesh Province Sports Council.
Foreign Players and PM Cup Stakes
To elevate the level of competition, the NVA has announced that all non-departmental teams are permitted to include up to three foreign players in their match squads.
The championship, which concludes on Poush 19, carries high stakes. It serves as the primary qualifying stage for the PM Cup NVA League. The top eight men’s teams and the top six women’s teams from this championship will secure their berths in the upcoming national league.
NVA General Secretary Shrestha informed that the official tiesheet for the tournament will be drawn and made public shortly following the team finalization.
